This project is a new 40,000 ft2 chick hatching facility. The project required our team to seamlessly integrate the mechanical systems into atomized hatchers, incubators and industrial processing equipment. As the system required to meet CFIA standards, the build followed tight infectious isolation standards as well as full pressure monitoring and pressure control requirements. The nature of the project required precise temperature, humidity and climate control. The final design was a central boiler plant tied into large AHU's through each space providing the client with an incredibly energy efficient building with precise control.

Chapman was engaged very early in the project and we worked on a design assist basis with the owner's representative and Falcon Engineering. In Collaboration with Falcon Engineering we worked directly with various equipment manufacturers during the entire selection process from inception through to final acceptance all the while ensuring a competitive process. As a result of our early stage involvement and having been provided with the authority to steer the team, we were able to save the owners significant dollars (high 6 figures) over the traditional procurement process.

Once we had conceptual plans available we employed a BIM specialist to 3-D model the mechanical room piping system. The entire room was literally prefabricated before the concrete was poured. Throughout the plant, we prefabricated and installed modular pipe racking systems containing the bulk of the mechanical and process piping. As a result of our utilization of these processes, we were able to obtain a high level of workmanship with less time on site than otherwise required.
